Frequently Asked Questions – ProJoint™ Polysweep™
Why is PolySweep especially suited to block paving?
PolySweep is specifically formulated for block paving. It bonds exceptionally well with the narrow, uniform joints typically found in this type of surface, providing a strong and long lasting finish.
What sets PolySweep apart from other products on the market?
PolySweep offers superior durability and resistance to cracking. Its strong bonding ability also means it is less likely to wash out over time, ensuring a more stable and reliable joint.
How long does PolySweep take to cure?
Curing usually takes between 24 and 48 hours, depending on weather conditions. Once fully cured, PolySweep forms a hard, durable joint.
Do I need to remove all weeds before applying PolySweep?
Yes, all weeds and loose debris must be removed prior to application. This ensures proper bonding within the joints and helps prevent future weed growth.
Is it necessary to use a whacker plate during installation?
Using a whacker plate is strongly recommended. It compacts the jointing material effectively and helps achieve a firm, long lasting bond.
Can I install PolySweep without a leaf blower?
While a leaf blower is useful for clearing excess product from the surface, it is not essential. A soft brush can also be used, but care must be taken not to disturb the jointing material.
How long must PolySweep remain dry after application?
The surface should remain dry for at least 24 hours after application. If rain is expected, it is advisable to cover the area with a tarpaulin to protect it during the curing process.
Why is a permeable bedding mortar required?
PolySweep cures by drying out, so water must have a way to escape. A permeable sub-base allows moisture within the joints to drain freely. This prevents water from stagnating, which can soften the binder and promote algae growth over time.
What do you mean by a permeable bedding mix?
A sand and cement mix with a ratio of 5 to 1 or greater is considered permeable. Alternatively, you can use a purpose-made permeable bedding mortar to ensure effective drainage.
