What type of window cleaning system is best for beginners?

For anyone seriously starting out in the window cleaning industry, we generally recommend beginning with a basic cold water "delivery only" van mounted water fed pole system.

This setup includes a securely mounted pure water storage tank, connected to a 12V water pump and pump controller, which feeds a hose reel and ultimately your water fed pole. Instead of generating pure water yourself using an onboard RO/DI system, you simply fill the tank at a pure water filling station.

What size vehicle do I need to fit a mounted water fed pole system?

The size of vehicle required will depend on the capacity of the water storage tank you choose. As a general guide, we recommend the following:

280L: Minimum 500KG payload e.g. Fiat Forino, Peugeot Bipper, Citroen Nemo, Citroen Berlingo, Renault Kangoo, Ford Transit Courier / Connect, Vauxhall Combo, VW Caddy or Mercedes Citan.

350L/400L: Minimum 600KG payload e.g. Citroen Berlingo, Renault Kangoo, Peugeot Partner, Ford Transit Connect, Vauxhall Combo, VW Caddy or Mercedes Citan.

500L: Minimum 700KG payload e.g. Citroen Dispatch, Renault Trafic, Vauxhall Vivaro, Ford Transit Custom, Mercedes Vito, VW Transporter or Peugeot Expert.

650L/750L: Minimum 1000KG payload e.g. Citroen Dispatch, Renault Trafic, Vauxhall Vivaro, Ford Transit Custom, Mercedes Vito, VW Transporter or Peugeot Expert.

How many houses can I clean with a full tank?

“How many houses can I clean with a full tank?” is a common question but one that doesn’t have a one size fits all answer.

The number of jobs you can complete depends on several factors, including your chosen flow rate, your working speed, and the size of the properties you're cleaning. However, based on an average flow rate and an average paced operator, the following guidelines can be used:

  • 350L/400L: approximately 18–20 three-bedroom semi-detached homes.
  • 500L: approximately 23–25 three-bedroom semi-detached homes.
  • 650/750L: approximately 28–30 three-bedroom semi-detached homes.

Can you install the window cleaning system for me?

Yes, absolutely! We can install your system at our headquarters in Telford (TF1 5ST).
Installation typically takes around 6 to 8 hours, allowing us to fit the system safely and professionally

Telford and the surrounding Shropshire area offer plenty of beautiful places to explore, including Ironbridge and Shrewsbury, so we often recommend making a day of it. Simply drop your van off in the morning and collect it later the same day.

Please note we do not have an on-site waiting area.

Do you provide a warranty or technical support?

Yes, absolutely. All our systems come with a 12 month warranty covering any manufacturing defects on included components.


For technical support, we're available Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm, by phone or email. We’re also happy to provide video call support for fault diagnosis and walk-through guidance for any necessary repairs.

In addition, we stock all replaceable components for our water fed pole systems, so you’ll always have the backup and parts availability you need to keep your setup running smoothly.

Window Cleaning System Installation Terms & Conditions (Please read)

The Cleanlynk FORTRESS range of van mounted water fed pole window cleaning systems are manufactured in the UK from high quality embossed polypropylene and feature built in pump mounts, controller mounting plates, battery storage box, water level sight glass and built reinforced vehicle mounting lip, allowing you to safely mount the tank directly to your vehicle without need for an additional frame.

They also feature a different type of internal baffling which minimizes water movement whilst in transit, eliminating annoying swaying when your vehicle comes to a stop.

Choose between standard cold water system or the impressive hot water system which makes water fed pole window cleaner noticeably faster and produces even better results. The hot water system utilizes a double skinned fully insulated water tank combined with a 2KW immersion heater and Spring Europe's V11 immersion heater controller. 

The V11 mains immersion heater controller is Spring Europe's solution to controlling the water temperature within a large water tank. The controller allows the user to set a desired temperature between 15°c and 70°c, once this is set the controller will then turn on the immersion heater until the water has reached the desired temperature. The temperature of the water is measured by a temperature probe placed inside the tank and connected to the controller. This controller features a safety cut-off. When the water level goes down below a safe level detected by a float switch the immersion heater will be switched off. The main features of this controller are:

  • Powered by household 230V electricity
  • Controls up to 2.5KW heater element
  • Indicates water temperature
  • Allows user to change desired temperature from 15-70°c
  • Low water detection with safety cut-off
  • IP65 case

The daily running cost of a hot water water fed pole window cleaning system using a 2KW immersion heater is approximately £5.20, based on a 10 hour overnight heating period at current (August 2025) UK average per KWH prices. In comparison, a 5KW diesel water heater costs around £7.00 per day to operate, while a 9KW diesel heater - commonly used for dual operator setups - can cost up to £12.00 per day. As such, an immersion heater system not only offers a significantly lower initial setup cost but also benefits from substantially reduced ongoing running costs.
